PETA believes that animals have rights and deserve to have their best interests taken into consideration, regardless of whether they are useful to humans. Like you, they are capable of suffering and have an interest in leading their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to use—for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other reason.
They need your help. Act out, speak up, educate yourself. Don't pay people or companies to hurt animals.
Have you ever considered adopting a guinea pig or other small animal? Well, forget about those lousy pet store chains and visit the critter corral! They know everything there is to know about guinea pigs and have donated their time and space to rescuing these critters from shelters and other bad situations. You can give an abused or abandoned animal a second chance and a forever home! If you're not from the Chicago area, you can always find a piggy who needs a home at www.petfinder.com.
Chicago Recycling Coalition works to promote recycling, source reduction and composting. Individuals, community groups and environmental groups can join together and change the way Chicago treats the earth.
Every year Andrea & Aerin host Rock Against the Blue Bag, a fundraiser for the CRC. The Blue Bag is Chicago's completely ineffective 'recycling program'. Dozens of other cities use source seperated pick up, keeping recyclables seperate from garbage.
Improving Chicago's recycling system, and promoting the implementation of a 10 cent bottle deposit in Illinois are two of the CRC's current campaigns.
Compassionate care, affordable cost
Each year, Planned Parenthood affiliated health centers nationwide provide high quality, affordable reproductive health care and sexual health information to nearly five million women, men and teens. Planned Parenthood welcomes everyone — regardless of race, age, sexuality, disability, or income. In fact, one in four women has visited Planned Parenthood at least once. When clients walk through our doors, they find a dynamic community resource that offers a wide range of medical and counseling services and health care education, as well as advocacy programs.
Committed, professional staff run Planned Parenthood health centers. Caring physicians, nurse practitioners, and other staff take time to talk with clients, encouraging them to ask questions and discuss their feelings in a confidential setting.
Educators offer innovative programs on making responsible choices about health and sexuality. Public affairs staff are constantly working to protect access to all reproductive health services and information.
